You may recognise this iconic cottage as long-standing Unique Homestay, The Riddle, which has recently undergone a thoughtful overhaul by our interior design team, alongside its new owners. Now going under the name of Penny Black, the home takes its namesake from its history as a post office on WH Smith's family estate, where letters and parcels once passed through its doors, carrying stories from near and far.

Inside, mid-century modern furnishings, bespoke artwork, and crooked beams create a space that blends historic DNA with contemporary sensibilities. Outside, a cottage garden dotted with herbs sets the scene for a soak in the cedarwood hot tub, while Dartmoor lies just beyond.
